Hermanus is located in the heart of South Africa’s whale route and this seaside resort is known to offer some of the best land-based whale watching in the world. There is a cliff path stretching from one side of town to other, covering some 12km of the Walker Bay coastline and this gives whale enthusiasts the opportunity to study these magnificent creatures from within 20 metres. The Old Harbour Museum houses telescopes that make it possible to scan the entire coastal area and see dolphins and whales at close range.
Hermanus is surrounded by neighbourhoods like Voelklip, Hermanus Heights, Fernkloof, Eastcliff, Kwaaiwater, Northcliff, Westcliff, Sandbaai, Onrust River, Vermont, Fisherhaven, Hawston and the far, Botrivier – Gateway to the Overberg.
